Angels by Dr David Jeremiah

As humans, we are naturally fascinated with spiritual things. Angels are no exception. Dr. Jeremiah's book takes you on a guided tour about what scripture says about angels. There are so many questions and he has many answers for us from scripture as well as his own personal thoughts on the subject. It is an interesting read.

I was having a conversation with someone just recently and they were talking about their guardian angel. I had never really done any Biblical research on it, but I wondered if that ideology was one that could be supported by the Bible. You will have to read the book to find out.

I loved seeing all of the scripture involving angels presented together. There was such a theme of announcing that sons would be born to barren women. It was amazing to see them set the stage for an even greater miracle that is announced to a virgin.

There are a ridiculous amount of badly written books on this subject that are lacking in theological weight. This is not one of those books. I think it is excellently written. Even in the questions that cannot be answered, David lays out for you the best hypothesis so that you can decide for yourself. Most importantly, he reminds the reader that we pray to God and let Him answer us how He chooses with whatever means He chooses.

I've also recently listened to someone speak of their guardian angel...even speaking directly to "their" angel. I have to admit that it didn't sit well with me and I had a strong urge to question whether or not that it Biblical. Unfortunately, a few hours after that conversation, the topic was forgotten and I never did the research. But of course you did! I'm inspired by your drive to seek out answers and be discontent with "not knowing". Thanks for reminding me I need to find the answer too!

A Writer's Callous

Alright, baby photo below. Quit emailing me! ;-) I remember having a writer's callous when I was five years old. In my adolescence I hated it. Now, I find it fascinating. Almost as long as I have been alive I have borne a mark that declares I am passionate about something in such a way that it bores into my skin. I heard Michelle Pfeiffer say David Kelley writes out all of his award winning shows on yellow legal pad. I like that. I prefer a journal and a real wood pencil (the kind that are stained, not the yellow ones.) There's something romantic about it to me. Writing is a choice medium in my relationship with God .
